Siding
Siding replacement and repair.
Siding is the part of the house everyone sees and the part that keeps water out of the walls. We replace and repair it with the weather-resistive barrier, flashing and trim done right underneath.

What we do
Siding services
-
Full siding replacement
Removal of the existing siding, inspection and repair of the sheathing, new weather-resistive barrier and flashing at windows, doors and roof-to-wall joints, then new siding and trim.
-
Siding repair
Rotten, cracked, warped or impact-damaged sections replaced and matched to the existing siding as closely as the product allows. We tell you when the damage is a sign of a larger moisture problem.
-
Trim, soffit and fascia
Window and door trim, corner boards, soffit and fascia are usually replaced with the siding. Rotten fascia is a common find on homes in the area and is fixed, not wrapped over.
Materials
What the material actually changes.
These are the siding categories homeowners in metro Atlanta most often choose between. Each has a different look, upkeep and cost. We will tell you which ones we recommend for your house.
- Fiber cement
- A cement-and-fiber board that takes paint well, resists rot and insects, and holds a crisp lap or board-and-batten profile. Heavier and more labor to install than vinyl; repainting is needed periodically. A common choice for a long-term exterior.
- Vinyl
- Lowest cost and lowest upkeep: no painting, hose it off. Color is through the material. Thinner panels can look less substantial, and it can be damaged by impact or high heat.
- Engineered wood
- Wood strands bonded with resin and treated against moisture and insects. Looks closer to real wood than fiber cement, lighter to install, and takes paint. Needs its finish maintained.
- Wood and other materials
- Cedar, brick veneer, stone veneer and stucco repairs are specialized work. Ask; if it is outside what we do, we will tell you rather than price it.
Before you choose
What to think about before you choose
Appearance
Profile (lap, board-and-batten, shake), exposure width, trim detail and color decide most of the look. Bring photos of houses you like; it shortens the conversation.
Upkeep
Vinyl needs washing. Fiber cement and engineered wood need repainting on a cycle. Any siding needs caulk and flashing checked every few years.
Scope
Partial replacement on one elevation is possible but new siding rarely matches old. Whole-house replacement costs more up front and avoids a patchwork.
Process
What the siding estimate includes
-
Site visit
We walk every elevation, probe suspect areas for rot, check windows, flashing and roof-to-wall joints, and measure the house.
-
Written estimate
Scope by elevation, siding product and profile by name, trim and accessories, sheathing repair allowance, paint or finish if included, and the price.
-
Scheduling
A start date and expected duration. Siding projects usually run longer than roofs because of the detail work around openings.
-
Installation and walk-through
Existing siding removed, sheathing repaired, wrap and flashing installed, siding and trim set, caulked and finished. We walk the house with you at the end.
Try colors on a real house
See the combination before you commit to it.
A real photograph, recolored by region with its shadows and texture intact. Siding can be painted or ordered in almost any color, so pick a swatch or type your own. Shingles come in the manufacturers' palettes, so those are listed by name.
Stock photograph used for illustration, not an ABP project.
On-screen colors are approximations of manufacturer color names and depend on your monitor. We bring physical shingle and siding samples to the site visit. Shingle color lists are from the GAF Timberline HDZ brochure (12/2021) and the CertainTeed Landmark sell sheet; confirm current availability with us. ABP is an independent contractor and is not a certified or authorized installer for any manufacturer; product names are used to identify colors only.
Your house, not this one
Send us a photo. We will send back the rendering.
The tool above runs on a stock photograph. The useful version runs on your house. Send us photos of the elevations you care about and we will produce the same kind of photorealistic rendering in the colors you are considering, and send it back to you. There is no charge and no obligation to use us.
-
01
Send the photos
Four shots from the estimate form: the front elevation square-on, each side, and a close-up of the trim and masonry you have to live with.
-
02
Tell us what you are weighing
Two or three siding colors, a trim color, and a shingle from the GAF or CertainTeed lines above. Or say you have no idea and we will put up a few that work with what is already on the house.
-
03
You get the rendering back
Your house, those colors, as a picture you can show whoever else gets a vote. If you want to see a color in person we will drop physical samples in the mailbox.
Screens show color differently from the way a roof does in daylight. A rendering is for narrowing the choice; the physical sample settles it.
Questions
Common questions about siding.
Can you replace siding on just one side of the house?
Yes. Be aware that new material rarely matches weathered material exactly, even in the same product and color. We will show you what the difference looks like before you decide.
Do you replace the weather-resistive barrier and flashing, or just the siding?
On a full replacement, the weather-resistive barrier and flashing are replaced as part of the job. Reusing old wrap and flashing is how new siding ends up with old leaks.
What if you find rot behind the siding?
We cannot see sheathing until the siding is off, so the estimate includes a stated allowance and per-sheet price for sheathing replacement. If we find more, you hear about it the same day with photos.
Is painting included?
It depends on the product. Some fiber cement and engineered wood arrives pre-finished; some is primed and painted on site. The estimate states which, and whether painting is included.
Next step
Tell us about the roof or the siding.
A few sentences, the city or ZIP code, and what the property needs is enough to start. Call, or send the form and we will reply with next steps.
